The Jeremy Game - in print form

This week I'm going to provide some exciting (?) trivia from a recent birthday we celebrated on my YouTube channel. For those who are new, I think you will catch on quickly. As usual, the answers will be provided at the end of this piece along with any additional information related to said questions.

As another reminder, sometimes these sentences aren't totally perfect in terms of structure, etc. I know you are super used to total perfection in this space of the paper but I think you will adjust accordingly.

The person we celebrated is named Jeremy Chase and he was born on March 9, 1971. The questions will be related to those days/dates and also his hobbies and interests will be worked in.

One: I oft' burst into a song by David Frizzell and Shelly West with the lyrics, “You're the reason God made ___________,” when Jeremy enters the lounge. That is because it's where he lives. Two: This person, who described himself as something of an anarchist, something of a socialist—maybe a democratic socialist, is best known for his book, “The People's History of the United States.” Several states tried to outlaw his books from schools but the efforts failed.

Three: Mickey Gilley shares the day with Jeremy but was born in 1936. He became very well known for owning the largest honky tonk on earth which was called “Gilley's.” What 1979 movie featured Gilley's and other points of interest in Houston region? Four: This is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by people as a whole. According to Marx, it is a necessary step in terms of going from Capitalism to Communism. Stop clutching pearls! Jeremy favors this type of ECONOMIC system over capitalism.

Five: Jeremy's state of Oklahoma is quite famous or infamous for breaking records with this “event,” as of late, most likely due to the destabilization of the region due to massive fracking ventures. Six: “_______, good god y'all, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!” Might be heard exiting the lips of our dear birthday man because he is fiercely against it.

Seven: Texas and West Virginia, to name two, have this particular “feature” just like Oklahoma does. Eight: Jeremy deals with death more than most of us here in the lounge but he's not a medical professional or an EMT. Where might he work?

Nine: This singer-songwriter who plays a variety of instruments, including the guitar, harmonica, keyboards, drums, and saxophone, is one of Jeremy's favorites. Into the Mystic and Brown Eyed Girl come to mind.

Ten: The name "Oklahoma" comes from the Choctaw words "okla"and "humma." Of these choices, what does it mean: 1) Land of the Vortex 2) Red People or 3) Flatland Dweller. Eleven: Cimarron County in the panhandle of Oklahoma has an interesting claim to fame. Of these choices, what is it? A) Only Indigenous peoples live there B) It is the home of the world's largest tornado museum C) It touches four states.

Twelve: Between 1898 and 1934 the US sent military troops into Central America and the Caribbean region in order to keep business interests in those regions in-tact. These were called the _________ wars. Thirteen: In cemetery lingo, a cenotaph, is what, of these choices: A) A permanent flower holder B) An area in which grave decorations are stored and/or maintained or C) A tomb or monument of a person or persons whose remains are not on site.

Fourteen: True or False: A cemetery area called a Potter's Field would more than likely be utilized for for indigent or unknown people. Fifteen: Across the Pond question: In May of 1971, this was published for the last time as a broadsheet and was reinvented as a tabloid.

Sixteen: Across the pond: What English group had a chart topper in 1971 with the song, “Get it On, Bang a Gong?” Seventeen: The big 1971 hit, “Fiddler on the Roof” was filmed with one of these over the lens to create a warm, earthy washed out kind of feel. I wonder if they took it out of a plastic egg.

Eighteen: Across the pond question: In 1971 in London, a concertgoer rushed the stage and shoved THIS PERSON, who is a favorite in the lounge, into the orchestra pit, enraged over his girlfriend's infatuation with the mustache man. He suffered a crushed larynx which resulted in a deeper, huskier singing voice and was also in a wheelchair for a year. Who was he? Nineteen: In 1971 the US of A launched THIS war, which has led to raids on the wrong houses, increased incarcerations and has wreaked havoc in many a life in general.

Twenty: Of these choices, how many native languages are spoken in Oklahoma: 1) 15 2) 30 3) 25.

I think that's all I can muster for the week. I hope you enjoyed the game and that you got all of the answers correct.
