Stone Memorial Library

CONNEAUTVILLE - As we continue to move forward through the 21st century, with all of the technological changes and advancements we have seen, it would seem that the library has become less important.

Libraries in the 21st century are more than just places that hold books, they are community centers where people can come together, socialize, learn, and grow.

At Stone Memorial Library, we do, of course, love our books. We have many new acquisitions to browse through, along with the classics that everyone loves.

But did you know that our library provides access to other materials and services as well? We provide access to e-books, computers, internet, WiFi, magazines, audio books, DVDs, and more. Our weekly children’s storytime is a hit, and is set to restart this fall. We have a knitting and crocheting club that meets on a weekly basis, all skill levels are welcome to attend. We also have a monthly book club.

We are looking forward to offering other programs for our patrons to help bring our community’s families and community together. If there is an item, program, or service that you would like to see in our library, please let us know. Otherwise, do feel free to stop by and visit us when you can!

Stone Memorial Library is located at 1101 Main Street, Conneautville, PA. Our hours are Monday & Friday 1-6, Tuesday & Thursday 9-6, and Saturday 9-1. You can reach us at 587-2142.

Springboro Library happenings

- A Gold Level Library -

SPRINGBORO - This “Gold Star” library welcomes new patrons every day! Encourage your family members to come in and sign up for a library card. We welcome all ages. Our diverse selection of media has something for everyone.

New adult fiction and non-fiction are always displayed at the front of the library. New best sellers this week include books by Laura Lippman, Catherine Coulter and Harlan Coben. Feel free to request new authors and titles.

Did you know libraries have an inter-library loan program? If we don’t have a book you are looking for, we can probably find it at another library and order it for you. It usually takes a week or so to get it in and then you have a few weeks to enjoy it before we send it back. This is just another free service your local library offers.

The best way to get kids to enjoy reading is by reading to them from an early age. Join us every Saturday morning at 10am for pre-school story hour. Our story time is led by an experienced “Pre-K” teacher and coaches children for what they should expect when they go off to school for the first time. Kids learn to participate, ask questions and share adult attention. We follow story time with a fun activity that teaches basic skills for school such as using scissors and glue. Parents are encouraged to stay, observe or just enjoy the library, using computers, reading the paper or a magazine. We ask that small children not be left unattended.

Please give us a call if you would like to donate older books to the library. We are currently at full capacity for our next book sale. Other donation are always welcome. For a small donation you can also place a memorial or dedication in a book. This is a great way to honor a love one, receive a tax write off or just do something great for your neighborhood. Much of our funding goes to implementing new programs. We constantly strive to implement new programs for kids, adults and seniors.

Our next big event is in the planning stages. We are coming up on our 75th anniversary. Join us this September as we hold a special celebration of our 75 years of service to Springboro. So far we have planned a big book sale and special displays featuring our library now and looking back over the many years. If you have any old photos you would like to submit a copy of, please stop by.

Check out all that your library has to offer by following us on facebook or looking up our website. We post all of our activities and workshops as well as new books, movies and e-books.

Our website’s “Power Library” is great for writers as it includes references and bibliographies that you can’t get through your online research. And it will also direct you to related articles on those topics. There is also free access to “Universal Class” which has over 500 subjects! You can earn free CE credits with “Universal Class”. All you need is a library card.

You can also keep up with our craft workshop schedule on our website or on Facebook. We do craft workshops on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Our next workshop will be on August 15th. This free workshop will be another wood craft. A sign up sheet will be at the front desk.

If you have an idea for a book, movie, workshop or activity, please stop by and speak to our Library Director. We aim to provide the most current educational materials as well as entertainment media and crafts for our community.
