Linesville council votes delay in night the annual Trick-or-Treat held
Written by David Shaef
If it wasn’t bad enough that Linesville is facing a no parade Water Fowl Expo event in September, Linesville Borough Council voted 5-1 at their meeting July 9, to break with Halloween Trick-or-Treat tradition and schedule the borough’s Trick-or-Treat Night a week later than usual.
Typically Trick-or-Treat is the 4th Thursday of the month, followed by a student’s off day at school that next day [Friday], followed by the Meadville Halloween Parade on Saturday.
This year there are 5 Thursdays in October with the actual Halloween date of October 31, being that 5th Thursday. School calendars in the county, already made up, call for the 4th Thursday, Oct. 24, to be a student day with Trick-or-Treat assumed that night, then the Friday Oct. 25, off, followed by the Meadville Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 26.
In Linesville, to go along with the Trick-or-Treat Night, is Mickle’s Haunted Barn being open, and usually the Linesville Baptist Church holding a Fun Night at their church location.
