NFBOW (week three)

- By Lisa and ?????

Well, here we are again ladies and germs. I just thought I’d remind you that we are all indeed here—I think!

I’m continuing along with loaning out this space to area business owners who get no real voice in the SHENANIGANS that are unfolding around us now for what seems like YEARS, at this point.

Before I turn this over to the new NFBOW (Nameless-Faceless-Business-Owner-of-Week), I will say that I’ve noticed a change in the atmospheric pressure over the past month. People are “on the muscle,” as my father used to say in his loving and tender manner.

For those who don’t get it, “on the muscle” basically means ready to leap or pounce for any reason. I think they call it being “triggered” these days. The on the muscle jazz is totally expected and justified, in this case.

You all know my views on this INSANITY so I won’t blather on about it any longer. For those late to the game, you may check my column here online from April 6. I will say that since you have some time on your hands, I encourage all of you to back away from the fear mongering media that is CLEARLY pushing some sort of additional agenda here. I mean honestly, do you really think this is ONLY about a virus?

Stop clutching pearls over the question and do some research. Here is one link for you and then I’m turning it over. (The person who agreed to this was rather short and sweet so I do have a bit of space to fill.) See? Even I am on the muscle and I’m generally so peachy! Remember, I’m offering this space on a weekly basis. If you are interested in being the next NFBOW, please email me at the address above or telephone me. I’m also in that old fashioned phone book that is gathering dust on your shelf.

Motivated by Fear

- By ????????

We have a family owned and operated business that has been around for decades. We don’t support this whole shutdown. Our family has been without an income for six weeks now and we have not gotten any news about help from the federal government at all.

That is bad enough but to make it worse, I know of no one who has been sick! I don’t understand why everyone is so fear motivated.

We like to think of solutions to problems and we have an idea that might help some of us mom and pop stores to recover. How about if we force the box stores (huge corporate stores like Home Depot and others) to close down and give us the opportunity to make some money hand over fist just like Walmart is doing? I refuse to go to Walmart!

I guess that’s all I have to add to this. Other family run businesses are not happy about this either so it’s not just us.
