Fallowfield hosts Prayer March

Welcome! You may have heard that Franklin Graham is hosting a prayer march in Washington, D.C. on September 26, 2020, from noon to 2 p.m. along the Washington Mall. The event will begin at the Lincoln Memorial and conclude at the Capitol, a 1.8-mile march.

The theme verse of the event is, “Thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land.” (2 Samuel 24:25, NASB)

Graham emphasizes this march is not about politics; it’s about prayer.

Graham writes on prayermarch2020.com, “America is in trouble. Our communities are hurting, our people are divided, and there’s fear and uncertainty all around us. Let’s join together and do the most important thing: pray!

Fallowfield United Methodist Church is hosting a prayer event simultaneously with Graham’s event. The day will begin with praise songs led by Pastor Les Hutchins, starting at 11:45 a.m. At 2 p.m., the prayer vigil will start. There will be seven prayer leaders, each praying for 15 minutes about different topics.

Those who want to participate in a march of sorts will proceed around the church grounds to seven stations, designated by signs, where they will pray on each subject.

The first is humbling ourselves in repentance and asking God to forgive our sins and heal our land.

The second focuses on our military, police and other law enforcement, and their families, and security and peace for the nation.

The third is a prayer for salvation of the lost, renewed strength in our families, solutions to the coronavirus pandemic, and an end to abortion.

The fourth is intercession for the President and the Vice President and their families

The fifth is for compassion and kindness toward one another, respect and reconciliation between races, and healing in communities torn by violence and injustice.

The sixth is for religious freedom; and for churches to have boldness, to stand firm with the Word of God, and to preach Jesus Christ in a troubled world.

And the seventh is for our Congress and other leaders at the national, state, and local levels; the Supreme Court, and judges across the nation.

The gathering will be held in front of the church’s pavilion, which adjoins the parking lot. Bring a chair, blanket, umbrella, or whatever the weather calls for. The event will be held rain or shine.

Gay Slozat is heading up the event, and says, “We feel God opened a door for Christians to step up and pray and bring God back to front and center.” She also noted they will follow social distancing guidelines, take attendance, wear masks, and follow all COVID-19 protocol.

Slozat invited Mumford Chapel United Methodist Church, Faith Geneva United Methodist Church, Adamsville Presbyterian Church, Atlantic Community Church, and Kennard United Methodist Church congregations to join in the event.

You are invited, too! Please join us as we pray for the United States to return to God.

In light of current events in Washington, D.C., we need to pray for all those involved in the Prayer March. They may be accosted by protestors, Antifa, or other groups. They are boldly coming out in peaceful intercession to our great God. Please pray for Divine and angelic protection for this event and all those involved. Have a wonderful week. Blessings!
