Springboro Library happenings
SPRINGBORO - Lots of December activities happening! We’ve got new Holiday and Christmas books, movies and magazines arriving weekly. And new craft workshops are on the calendar!
We have your favorite cook books for baking or holiday dinner. And pick out one of the new fiction novels to curl up with on these cold nights. We have new books from Jodi Picoult, Janet Evanovich and Clive Cussler.
On December 11, we will have a holiday canvas painting workshop. This workshop is full. However, we have two additional holiday events planned. On 12/20/18, there will be another craft workshop as well as a youth scavenger hunt. These activities begin at 6 pm.
Remember to come in and sign up for one of our craft workshops. We do crafts the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month.
We would like to thank all of the members of our community who came to our Soup and Sandwich Supper. And a special thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers who baked pies. Your support is very much appreciated. The supper was a success.
A big thanks to all who helped decorate our Christmas trees as well. The holiday windows really light up this little town!
Check out our magazines and collect recipes to prepare for Christmas or New Years, etc. Or borrow movies, music CDs, play aways or books on CD. We have a variety of materials for the whole family. Patrons are welcome to come in and read or use the internet in a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
Our children’s corner features books, games, toys and coloring supplies. Join us for pre-school story hour on Saturday mornings at 10 am followed by kids activities at 11 am. “Miss Ginger” will have plenty of holiday crafts for the kids. And on Dec. 15, there will be a youth event. Join us for “Save, Spend , Share”. The kids have been contributing ornaments to our Christmas trees. So be sure to check out their fine work.
Remember to LIKE us on facebook and check out our website. The website offers a variety of reference materials which are perfect for students of all ages who are writing papers for school. The website’s “power library” includes references, bibliographies and related articles on chosen topics. There are also a variety of e-books and free access to universal classes for over 500 subjects!

CONNEAUTVILLE - Welcome December! We have a lot of activities planned for the month.
On Monday, December 10, we are offering a Beginners Sign Language Class at 5:00 for the entire family.
On Saturday, December 15, at 11:30 join us for ScratchJr - an introductory programming language that enables young children to create their own interactive stories and games. Children snap together graphical programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. Children can modify characters in the paint editor, add their own voices and sounds, even insert photos of themselves -- then use the programming blocks to make their characters come to life.
On Thursday, December 27, we are hosting a Family Game Night at 4:30. This is a great way to enjoy a night out with the family while everyone is on Christmas break. If you are interested in any of the programs mentioned, please call the library at 587-2142 to sign up.
The Conneautville “Pay It Forward” contest has begun. Now is the time to check out the displays and vote for your favorite charity. Votes are $1.00 each and will be accepted Monday – Friday at the Conneautville Borough Office and at Stone Memorial Library. Get out and vote!
We are pleased that the library is becoming more of a community connection. More patrons are realizing that the library is not just about books. As we continue to offer a variety of programs and services we hope to have a positive impact on our community.
If you need something to get into the holiday spirit stop in to the library and check out our books, DVD’s, and music. We have an extensive variety to choose from.
Story time continues on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 if you would like to join us.
With the colder weather now would be a good time to come in and see the new books we have added to our collection. There are several new Christmas selections for you to enjoy with a cup of hot chocolate or tea and get you in the holiday spirit.
