“Don’t you feel it growing, day by day

People getting ready for the news

Some are happy, some are sad

Woah, gotta let the music play…”

As usual, my morning “routine” on my day-off from my duties permits, I start my day by sleeping-in until about 3 - 4 A.M. That’s when my faithful alarm clock companion (HOBBES) awakens me for his morning rounds outside.

Feeling somewhat rested, after he returns from “Hobbes Acres,” I amble out into the kitchen area of our home and proceed to brew myself my daily morning cup of STRONG coffee.

This task being completed, I slide into my home office corner, and call my computer back to Life.

FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS… Check-out my Facebook pages (of course!)

NEXT…Slap-on my headset, and tune-in the homepage broadcast of my favorite local radio station.

LAST (but NEVER least)…Open the rampant amount of emails I have received overnight (YIPES!)…all the while, laughing to the shenanigans of two dear Friends, LONNY BOY and WHEATFIELD, and “mind-dancing” to the melodies they send onto the airwaves.

FLASHBACK

Several years ago, 12 to be exact, I was first invited by the station to be a weekly guest on the Morning Show, which was then hosted by the morning announcer, the much beloved Dave Hanahan, who Journeyed upward among the Stars of Heaven a few years back.

My initial duty was to represent one of our regional cancer centers, and my role there as the Art Director. Among my chosen responsibilities was to schedule events for the center, focusing upon the patients, their Artworks, and the visiting Artists which I (and the center) had invited to work with the patients and families…encouraging the creation of their OWN works…a process proven to be a stress-reducing protocol.

Eventually, my visits to the radio station expanded to include the event listings throughout the regional area, and the presentation of individual Artist members of my ARTS FOR EVERYONE group.

Every Tuesday morning, at 8:15, folks were MORE than encouraged to listen-in and participate by phone to my guest appearances.

When Dave left us, I decided to relinquish my weekly radio spots. My decision was NOT to last very long!!!

AND, THEN

After a few weeks passed, I was again contacted, this time by the newest member of the radio staff, LON WILSON (known to his listeners as “Lonny Boy.”)

Lon, whom I knew previously in several other capacities, presented me with a question: Would I be interested in coming-back to the morning show which he now hosted?

How could I POSSIBLY refuse???

So, once again, I found myself at the station weekly…this time exclusively representing local/regional Artist, events, etc., and inviting along with me local business owners of my selection. GREAT TIMES!!!

GREAT FUN!!!

Tuesday mornings gave-way into Wednesday mornings.

Eventually, another co-broadcast member joined Lon to make his daily appearance, PETE MIERKE, better known to listeners as “Wheatfield.”

To say that these two gentlemen changed the “face” of morning broadcasts in our extended Region is a gross understatement!

While listeners have the opportunity to laugh at their goings-on, folks also are reminded of the most VALUABLE contributions and sacrifices to our Nation provided at EVERY MOMENT by our Armed Forces, our local Law Enforcement Personnel, Firefighters, Medical Professionals, and many, many MORE!!!

To say that “Lonny Boy” and “Wheatfield” are TRUE gifts to us, is, perhaps, an understatement.

MOVING ON

Unfortunately, my obligations in several other areas have taken precedence over my ability to appear on the morning show at the station on a regular basis. However, I have been told that an “open invitation” always exists, and I, on occasion, have been able to take advantage of it.

Recently, I was approached by the afternoon announcer, SUZIE Q., to appear every Thursday afternoon as the publicity representative for our precious regional venue, the historic Meadville Market House. I accepted. (BUT…that is a matter for some other Time!)

THIS MORNING

As I tuned-in online to the station this morning (rather late), I communicated to the “guys” via a Facebook message. Not, surprised, my message was answered live, and online! Of course, I was thrilled.

Then, as the Morning Show drew to its closing…a TRUE MIRACLE was sent out over the airwaves.

Needless to say, that the current Times have affected each and every one of us…despite age, economic, racial, sexual, and other differences. I have witnessed firsthand the extent of desperation, possible despair, and fear that extend and engulf every- See Tune In page 17

aspect of our Planet.

How to encourage HOPE???

A definitive answer to this question was received in the final musical selection of this morning’s broadcast. To say that I was overwhelmed by Hope is to put it extremely mildly.

The message is in the words of a song written and performed by the group, “THE DOOBIE BROTHERS,” and appeared on their album back in 1972.

The HOPE expressed in this song is as appreciable to TODAY, as it was in the days “back when.”

I cannot possibly thank Lon and Pete enough for sending this reminder this morning.

AND…I HOPE and PRAY that you listen to the words, listen to the music…and BELIEVE, once again.

Listen To The Music

- The Doobie Brothers

It ain’t so hard to do if you know how

Gotta get a message, get it on through

Oh now momma don’t you ask me why

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen to the music

All the time

When I know you know baby, everything I say

Meet me in the country for a day

We’ll be happy and we’ll dance

Oh, we’re gonna dance our blues away

And if I’m feeling good to you and you’re feeling good to me

There ain’t nothing we can’t do or say

Feeling good, feeling fine

Oh, baby, let the music play

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen…

Like a lazy flowing river

Surrounding castles in the sky

And the crowd is growing

bigger

Listening for the happy sounds

And I got to let them fly

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen to the music

All the time

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen to the music

Woah, oh listen to the music

All the time.
