David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Thank You all for your Love and Prayers and Well Wishes.

Got a question you need answered about possible middle school setups in the Conneaut School District? Moving 5th grade back to the elementary buildings?

Closing the two elementary schools and moving all K - 8 grades into the current middle schools?

How transportation would work with one middle school building - be it all middle school students in one building at Conneaut Lake, a most central location, or if they would be put in one building at Conneaut Valley and transport 3/4’s of the students to the north?

All those questions could be answered under a plan put forth by Conneaut School Board president Dot Luckock when the school directors met in special work session Tuesday, March 20, at Alice Schafer School Annex.

After Conneaut Schools Superintendent Jarrin Sperry noted the board needed to make a decision on how to proceed, pointing to the setup of a half dozen years ago when committees were formed involving board, public and staff - over 100 taking part - and all that information still available, Luckock put forth the following plan that she said is not trying to invent the wheel:
