David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Thank You all for your Love and Prayers and Well Wishes.

The Conneaut Lake Borough Council held their January public meeting with Council members Mike Krepps, Bill Eldridge, John Chuey, Billy Paris, Dick Holabaugh, Penny Monahan and Dwight Stallard in attendance. Mayor Timothy Kaider was absent. Secretary Kathryn Spencer took the minutes and there were 2 citizens present.

This was the first public meeting to be held at the new Town Hall/Community Center at the former High Street Church. All stood to salute the American Flag.

Councilwoman Monahan announced during the meeting that Conneaut Lake Borough now officially owns the former High Street Church, hereinafter referred to as the Town Hall, located at 395 High Street in Conneaut Lake Borough.

Uhlig’s Lock Repair of Meadville has been on site to assess the locks for change. A burglar alarm has been installed, and the Regional Police Department would like to have a lock box with key.

Everything must be integrated for smooth operation and investigations, should the burglar alarm be set off.
