Sharing the Profits

Welcome to another beautiful week in the Atlantic community! I can’t exaggerate how much I’ve enjoyed the sunshine. Have you noticed the gorgeous sunsets? I love the layers of color in the sky right after the sun sets. It looks like a perfect horizontal rainbow. Or maybe rainbow sherbet.

I told my kids recently that one of the things I love about living in the Atlantic community is the fact that I can see those rainbow sunsets. When I lived in the Akron, Ohio, area, I couldn’t see anything after dark except the orange glow cast by street lights. No stars. No moonlight..

Last week Fallowfield United Methodist Church’s fair spending committee divided the pie project’s profits among 82 charities, missionaries, and worthy causes. Here’s the list of local charities: CASA, Mercer County Habitat for Humanity, His Work His Way, Hospice House of Crawford County, Fresh Grounds Coffeehouse in Greenville, Pregnancy Center of Meadville, Samaritans of Conneaut Lake, Sertoma Club’s Jimmy Moore Fund, Salvation Armies of Crawford and Mercer Counties, Stone United Methodist Church’s soup kitchen, Meadville’s Family And Community Christian Association, Manna House, Bethesda Children’s Home, Tri-State Christian Productions, Inc., a men’s shelter in Meadville and Greenhouse women’s shelter.

We donated money to 25 missionaries in countries such as Uganda, India, China, Philippines, Hungary, Bolivia, the Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Paraguay, Mexico, Israel, and South Africa.

Starting September 27, there will be a new Sunday school class at Fallowfield United Methodist. It’s a support class that will tackle issues such as finances, raising a family, stress, loneliness, health issues, and depression.

Kennard United Methodist Church is hosting a community breakfast on Saturday, October 10, beginning at 8 a.m. Every second Saturday in fall, winter, and spring they host these breakfast. I’ve heard good things about the food. They’re also having a lasagna dinner on Saturday, October 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sounds yummy.

Have a wonderful week. Blessings!
