David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Thank You all for your Love and Prayers and Well Wishes.

Water billing, tower cleanup CV council issues
Written by LISA HOUSERMAN

During the March meeting of Conneautville Borough Council, a resident approached the board about the water billing situation.

As was reported in December, the borough is owed thousands of dollars in past-due water bills. During that meeting borough worker Jerry Chamberlain said that it takes him a full week to physically read the meters. Water bills are sent out on a monthly basis and the actual reading takes place every three months.

According to notes taken by a citizen during the February meeting, Chamberlain has been able to reduce the time needed for meter reading to about 24 hours.

Back to the March gathering, the citizen stated that she apologized for not attending more meetings and indicated that she was sorry for being present just to place a complaint. She went on to ask council how the past-due water bills could amount to thousands of dollars when a monthly bill is $25. She also asked how many accounts they have and for how long this has been unfolding.
