David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Thank You all for your Love and Prayers and Well Wishes.

The Conneaut Lake Community Development Committee hosted an open house Saturday, Oct. 25, to unveil the new Town Hall for the Borough. CLCDC Chairman Bill Eldridge welcomed friends, colleagues and history buffs to the beautifully refurbished historic building, formerly known as the High Street Community Church. Violinist Melissa Kruse played waltzes and olde-time music as cider, tea, and cucumber sandwiches were served. Home-made pastries, with home-made whipped cream and jelly rounded out the refreshment table.

Developer Ron Anderson, President of Universal Development of Girard, OH, bought the building with the intention of restoring it and preserving its historic value. He intends to donate it to the town of Conneaut Lake.

The new Town Hall looks absolutely beautiful; upstairs there is an airy, open interior with a stage for music, plays or lectures. The hall can be used for arts and entertainment, receptions or banquets, both private and public. A small kitchen with counter top and window are situated at the back.

Downstairs are freshly painted, bright offices with plenty of windows and light. Each office has closet space and room for desks and chairs. - See Offices page 18
