David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Cheryl Krachkowski appointed as Conneaut region school director

Cheryl Krachkowski, a Summit Township resident, who had last served on the Conneaut School Board in 2010 - 2011, having resigned mid 2011 when she moved from Region 1 to Region 2, was re-appointed to the school board when the remaining 8 directors voted 5 - 3 to appoint her to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lorri Drumm in December.

She was sworn in upon her election and took her seat with the appointment running until December of 2015.

Kevin VanHonk elected Sadsbury chairman, Bonnie Smith, newly elected, seated on board

Sadsbury Township supervisors held the mandatory re-organizational meeting, followed by the regular January public meeting, Monday, Jan. 6.

All newly-elected officials were sworn in at the District Magistrate’s office.

Lake borough council selects 2014 officers

Conneaut Lake Borough Council held its mandatory reorganization meeting, followed by the January public meeting, with Mayor Timothy Kaider officiating over the swearing-in ceremony.

The signing of oaths and ethic forms is complete.
