David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Four express interest in school board opening

As the deadline for applying for the vacancy on the Conneaut School Board of Education approached on Friday, Jan. 3, four people had formally applied to fill the opening created in Region 2 when Lorri Drumm resigned in December.

The Region 2 area covers the boroughs of Conneautville and Springboro and the townships of Spring, Summit and Summerhill.

Conneaut Lake Borough Council passes 2014 budget at year end meeting

The Conneaut Lake Borough Council held the December public meeting recently with presiding Council members Mike Krepps, Bill Eldridge, Billy Paris, Dick Holabaugh, Mayor Timothy Kaider and Dwight Stallard in attendance. Council members Penny Monahan and John Chuey were absent, as was Solicitor Jeff Millin. Secretary Kathryn Spencer took the minutes and there were 3 interested citizens present. Chairman Dick Holabaugh led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.

Council then presented the public with a Christmas Party that included snacks of spicy chicken nuggets, spinach quiches bites, candy, cookies, apple pie, cake and apple cider. Everyone enjoyed the goodies while Council conducted business.

Greenwood supervisors hold December meeting

The Greenwood Township Board of Supervisors held their recent December public meeting with presiding Board members Timothy McCracken, Cecil Stevenson and Diane Adsit in attendance. Secretary Donna Kean took the minutes and there were 4 interested citizens present.

For Public Comment, Jesse Arnett stood to talk to the board about a septic system for a church at the Crossroads subdivision.
