Sparks said to fly

Opening the April meeting to standing room only, North Shenango Township Supervisor Jeff Daniels called for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Other supervisors in attendance were Eloise Settlemyre and Bill Emerick. Secretary Denise Gray took the minutes.

The first order of business was the opening of the bids for lawn maintenance for the summer.

There were five bids and the motion carried to hire a seasonal lawn care provider.

This is a matter of public record, and the bid winner can be reviewed at the township building, by appointment.

Linesville councilman Ron Vennare, who offered a motion to adopt the International Property Maintenance Code when council met April 13 that’s the code that tells property owners/occupants that you must have 70 square feet of floor area in a bedroom occupied by one person and every bedroom occupied by more than one person shall have at least 50 square feet of floor area for each occupant saw his motion for approval of the code die for a lack of a second.

Double homicides, robbery shock Linesville area Print E-mail

The first word came on Sunday morning, April 11, when State Police were called to the home of Tod E. and Laurie A. Prenatt at 2079 Wheeler Road, west of Linesville, the police finding the bodies of the Prenatts upon arrival at the home.

Both had been shot numerous times with Crawford County Coroner Pat McHenry ruling the deaths homicides late Monday afternoon, April 12, following the completion of autopsies in Erie by Dr. Eric Vey, a forensic pathologist.

The Pennsylvania State Police were called to the home at about 10:00 a.m., after Laurie Pernatt’s mother stopped at the home to pick up her daughter on the way to Linesville First Baptist Church where both attended.

New fire truck arrives, DEP issues citation Print E-mail

The West Fallowfield Board of Supervisors met for their March meeting recently, with members Cecil Courtney, Marguerite Scullin and Ray Peterson in attendance. Secretary Brenda Williams took the minutes and there were three concerned citizens present.

The public had a chance to review the minutes, along with a report of current expenditures and fund balances. Public comment was invited on the reports.

Secretary Williams stated that the expenditures payable to Buckeye Power Sales had been disputed by Cecil Courtney, which resulted in an invoice reduction of $1,000.00.
