Sharing Christ with Shoe Boxes

Welcome to another week. Did you remember to turn you clocks back last Sunday? I did, and man did that extra hour of sleep feel good. Last week’s summer-like weather felt great. But how bizarre is a 70-degree day with a dinnertime sunset?

I hope you voted last Tuesday. It’s a gift from God to share in the political process. I also hope you will thank a veteran this week for his or her service to our country.

Fallowfield United Methodist Church will collect Operation Christmas Child boxes on Sunday, November 15. Many children around the world have never received a present in their lives. Can you believe that? My kids were showered with gifts before they were born, and it seems as if people’s generosity knows no bounds. Filling a shoe box with small gifts and toiletries shows children they are valued by someone across the globe. It opens the door for Samaritan’s Purse volunteers to share the truth about Jesus with these children through Operation Christmas Child’s discipleship program, The Greatest Journey.

If you’d like to fill a shoe box with Christmas presents this year and drop it off at Fallowfield United Methodist, please join us at 9 a.m. for worship next Sunday. We’d love to see you.

Kennard United Methodist Church is hosting a community breakfast on Saturday, November 14, at 8 a.m. There’s nothing like a cooked breakfast to start your weekend out right.

Fallowfield United Methodist will have its annual fellowship dinner at 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 22. Anyone who helped with this year’s Crawford County Fair pie project is invited. We’ll bring tureens, and meat, rolls, and beverages will be provided. Expect delicious food -- you just might get a piece of Fallowfield pie, too.

Seventh Day will perform after the meal. I think it’s a Christian bluegrass-style band. This group includes guitars, a banjo, singers, and an upright bass. Sounds to me like they play toe-tappin’ music.

Have a wonderful week. Blessings!
