Atlantic Ribbon Winners at the Jamestown Fair

Welcome to another week!

It’s been much quieter in the Atlantic community now that the Crawford County Fair is over. But fair season was in full swing in Jamestown last week.

Jamestown offers a cozy, friendly fair. I’ve gotta be honest: I go for the food. The Lion’s Club fries top my list. They were as crispy and delicious as ever this year. I like to drench my fries in vinegar and dust them with salt. I love the way the Lion’s Club serves vinegar in a spray bottle. Genius.

My friends and neighbors entered items in several departments. I don’t feel like I’ve even been to the fair if I don’t look through the baked goods, canned goods, and needle skills departments. The Atlantic community really did me proud.

Joyce Jacobs won first prize for her berry pie. Carol Horne’s peach jam won second prize. Beth Lindsay (I’ve gotta brag about my little girl) won second prize for her chocolate drop sandwich cookies.

Sharon Shrock’s oatmeal bread won first place in the Red Star Yeast bread contest. She also won first place for gluten free sour cream cookies, peach pie, and chocolate cookies. She won a red ribbon for lemon cookies and third place for her brownies and apple pie.

Virginia Shields won a blue ribbon for her russet colored quilt.

Sharon Shrock’s baby quilt won first place for best hand quilting. Her embroidered baby quilt also earned a blue ribbon.

Barb Saulsbery won first place for her quilted wall hanging and third for her scrap quilt. Her gorgeous cobalt and ivory quilt won first prize. Oh, to be able to quilt like these ladies.

Elaina Gerber won first place for her tote bag and crocheted pot holder.

Atlantic Grange #344 earned first place for its display.

Way to go everybody!

Have a wonderful week. Blessings!
