February in the Atlantic Community

Welcome to another week. First I must apologize for two mistakes I made in last week’s column. A gracious reader brought these to my attention.

Don Moen’s concert is at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, at Fallowfield United Methodist Church. I forgot to include the concert’s time in last week’s column. The concert is free, but you may donate to Don’s ministry, Worship in Action, which partners with Royal Seed Home in Ghana. Royal Seed provides a home, food, and clean water to more than 190 orphaned children.

Secondly, I attributed three songs to Don Moen that he didn’t write, or didn’t write alone. Henry Smith wrote “Give Thanks;” Paul Baloche wrote “Above All;” and Don co-wrote “God Is Good All the Time” with Paul Overstreet.

There will be an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. on February 18, at Fallowfield United Methodist. Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent. It is a forty day season in which believers prepare their hearts for Easter.

Calvary United Methodist Church in Greenville holds Lenten lunches on February 25, March 4, 11, 18, and 25 at 11:30 a.m. Lunches cost $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. There will be a speaker and music at every luncheon.

Members and friends of Fallowfield United Methodist will make chicken pies at 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 21. This annual fundraiser benefits missions both locally and around the world. If you’d like to come help us make pies, please join us at the church. Bring an apron and expect fun, fellowship, God’s blessings, and fresh biscuits and gravy.

Blessings!
