Fire destroys Adamsville Post Office, Uncle Meatball’s, and apartments

Adamsville Post Office, six apartments, Uncle Meatball’s, and a ceramics store burned down on Wednesday, January 28. Twenty fire departments from Ohio and Pennsylvania fought the blaze for three hours. FOX 66 news of Erie interviewed Chief Adam Valesky of Fallowfield Fire & Rescue. WICU 12 also ran the story on Thursday, January 29.

The blessing in this is that God spared all six families. He also helped firefighters control the inferno despite wind.

Please pray for the six dispossessed families, the owners of Uncle Meatball’s and the ceramics store, and for the Post Office’s employees. This is a devastating loss.

There has been a general store in Adamsville since at least 1885, according to “History of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, Volume 1,” published in 1885 by Warner, Beers & Co.

The building also housed least three restaurants in my lifetime, including Uncle Meatball’s pizza and sub shop, My Grandmother’s Tea Pot, and Adamsville General Store.

Sometimes the best way to recover from loss is to help others. If you’d like to help members and friends of Fallowfield United Methodist Church make chicken pies on Saturday, February 7, and Saturday, February 21, we’d love to have you. This annual fundraiser benefits missions both locally and around the world. Just come to the church at 8:00 a.m. either or both days. God will bless you for donating your time to missionary work.

Fallowfield United Methodist is having a Valentine’s Day dinner on Sunday, February 15, at 6:30 p.m. After the meal people sign up to be secret pals. Secret pals give gifts and cards to each other anonymously on holidays and ordinary days as pick-me-ups. Participants come up with the most creative gifts. They will reveal themselves at next year’s Valentine’s Day dinner.

All God’s blessings!
