Atlantic’s Colors and Crafts

Welcome to another week!

Fall is at its peak in the Atlantic Community. Yellow leaves on red and sugar maples are especially vibrant this year. The red leaves on maple and Dogwood trees and orange leaves on sycamores are beautiful, too. When I saw how many leaves had changed by the end of September, I worried that all the leaves would fall early. I’m so glad I was wrong.

Locus Grove produce stand on Atlantic-Lake Road is still open. It’s encouraging to get fresh vegetables in October. It makes me feel like the growing season isn’t totally over. I’ve really enjoyed acorn and butternut squash this fall.

Atlantic Grange #344 is hosting Seniors for Safe Driving at the International Order of Odd Fellows Hall in Atlantic on Tuesday, October 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone who takes the class receives a five percent discount on car insurance. This program also helps seniors become safer drivers. There is no exam or on-road driving test and the program includes classroom instruction only. Call (800) 559-4880 or visit www.sfsd-pa.com to register.

Kennard United Methodist Church is planning a Christmas craft and bake sale on Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Janice Williams is making her scrumptious cinnamon rolls. Homemade breads, pies, cookies, and hoagies will be for sale. If you want cinnamon rolls and baked goods, plan on coming early. These always sell out quickly.

There is a Novemberfest on Saturday, November 1, at Old Salem United Methodist Church. The event is held in their Fellowship Hall and includes Christmas crafts, collectables, and unique gifts. Baked goods and soup will be for sale. The church asks for a donation of one canned good or one dollar per visitor. Admission donations benefit the Greenville Salvation Army. Baked goods and soup sale proceeds benefit the church. Old Salem United Methodist is located at 1031 Methodist Road, Greenville. Hope you can come. Why not visit both bake and craft sales? Sounds like a fun way to spend the day.

Have a wonderful week. Blessings!
