Autumn in Atlantic

Welcome to another week!

Tuesday, September 23, is the first day of autumn. It feels like fall. It has since September 6, when the temperature dropped from 86 degrees to 67 degrees in 12 hours. I’ve heard several folks in the Atlantic community remark that they’re not ready for fall.

I bought pumpkins, green beans, and an acorn squash from Locust Grove Produce Stand on Atlantic-Lake Road last Saturday. I was amazed at the beautiful vegetables and harvest decorations they had available. They had everything from bound cornstalks, pumpkins, and gourds to canning tomatoes, hot peppers, and garlic. I’m always impressed by skilled gardeners and the fruits of their labor.

Last Sunday I counted 15 children at Fallowfield United Methodist Church. We had 70 kids attend Vacation Bible School in June. I know some of those children have home churches, and I praise God that they’re in church. But if you don’t attend church and have little ones, please come to Bible Zone at Fallowfield United Methodist at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

This Sunday school program includes a Bible lesson, craft, and snack. It is hands-on learning and the teachers are very dedicated. Bible Zone is for children age three to 12. We sure would love to see you.

The Annual Fallowfield School Reunion is Saturday, October 4, at 1 p.m. Anyone who attended the school is invited, along with a guest. Expect a home cooked dinner, conversation, and a guest speaker.

Have a wonderful week. Blessings!
