Atlantic Community Day

Welcome to another week!

Fallowfield Fire and Rescue De-partment 45 sponsored Atlantic Community Day on Saturday, July 12. Chief Adam Valesky said they had an “unbelievable crowd.” He estimated 200 people attended. He hopes to make this an annual event.

Four Firemen demonstrated extinguishing two car fires. Eight uniformed firemen stood by in case of an emergency.

Once the fire was out, Chief Adam Valesky helped children spray the fire hose away from the cars.

The STAT Medevac 7 landed and community members got to see the helicopter.

Chief Adam Valesky said the Fire Department hosted the event because they hope to build a better relationship with the community: “We’re here for them and we need their support.”

Attendees enjoyed a variety of events, including a free picnic from 2 to 5 p.m. There was a pet parade, face painting, and kids coloring contest, 25-cent carnival games, and several vendors.

One of the displays was for the Make, Bake, & Create 4-H Club. They have met since May and have 19 members. Their main focus is on sewing and baking, but they also offer woodworking, scrap booking, and knitting.

Leaders Stacy Gerber, Barb Saulsbery, Marie Schlosser, and Sharon Shrock have led the girls’ efforts to sew backpacks, bake pizzas, strawberry pies, cakes, and blueberry muffins.

Leaders will judge members’ projects on July 26. The 4-H kids can then enter their projects in the Crawford County and Jamestown Fairs.

Have a wonderful week. Blessings!
