David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Thank You all for your Love and Prayers and Well Wishes.

Conneaut School Board members met in October voting session Tuesday, Oct. 18, 6 days later than usual as several board members attended the yearly Pennsylvania School Board’s Association meeting in Hershey the week before.

What was learned there and what may help Conneaut students will be a topic of a future school board work session as what purpose is served if one goes to those events and do not bring useful ideas, suggestions, etc., back.

Dot Luckock submitted a written report to the 7 other board members present Tuesday night - John Burnham was absent - that listed several thoughts following the Hershey sessions. They included our students are a part of a Globally Connected Society: they can access the answer through such as Google, but need to work on skills in a technology world;

problem solving skills, working as a team, communication, critical thinking are needed for jobs; responsibility and accountability must be taught; and there is an importance for all students to have personal finance course so they understand about loans, credit cards, etc.
