David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

The Eagles Foundation of the Conneaut School District has organized, has completed paperwork to be a recognized charitable group, and has elected officers and put by-laws in place - the mission of which shall be a broad-based, nonprofit community organization, whose exclusive mission is to secure resources from individuals, corporations, community organizations, and foundations to be distributed to support programs for the benefit of the students in the Conneaut School District, which will lead to the overall improvement of the quality of education and an enhancement of community support for public education.

Individuals and groups wishing to make contributions to the organization can now do so through donations, contributions, wills, and estates,.

The Eagles Foundation, in fact, has already received a $2,000 donation to help its cause. A checking account has been opened.

Others wishing to contribute can do so by sending such to its registered office at 219 West School Drive, Linesville, PA 16424.
