David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

NEW OWNER AT CLCCC - Great things are happening at the new Conneaut Lake Child Care Center located at 155 S. 9th Street, Conneaut Lake, in the basement of OLQA church. With a new owner, Caitlin Scott at the helm, a dedicated and educated team of teachers to lead classroom instruction, compassionate and loving caregivers tending to infants and young toddlers, the Center is ready to provide the highest quality early childhood education and care to children and families. CLCCC philosophy encourages parent involvement and builds on children's knowledge and experiences. Children learn in a variety of ways and at their own pace. The CLCCC’s carefully planned curriculum is designed to inspire each child at every age and stage of their development. At the center children have the opportunity to explore and expand their sense of self through classroom instruction, center based activities, community exploration and outdoor adventures. CLCCC will introduce concepts of math, science, language! culture, environment, art and health through out the year to stimulate each child's sense of wonder with the world. Each week during the summer CLCCC explored a different country or continent. This photo was taken during the week of the summer program that the students learned about and celebrated the country of INDIA. The children were taking part in a color fight using colored powder, which is often used in India during the holi festival in the spring.
