David Schaef update: (12/05/23)

I spoke with David yesterday. He had just arrived at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Erie.

There are still a couple of issues to resolve, and David is optimistic that Encompass has the skills. We didn't speak much of medicine and health, most of the conversation was about our subscribers and the Community News newspaper.

I was much encouraged by the tone of his voice and the idea he was interested in talking about Community News. So, he’s at that, “I want to get back to work” stage of healing.

He talked about his subscribers and a letter he is composing for them. He talked about how to proceed with the newspaper when he gets home.

He said he hopes to be home in 2 weeks.

Thank You all for your Love and Prayers and Well Wishes.

RETIREMENT RECOGNITION - Jane Headley [L] was recognized for her 38 years of service in the Linesville area court system on Friday, Jan. 24, her last day of work at District Justice Rita Marwood’s office. She began her employment in 1976 for Justice of the Peace Carol Good, who became a District Justice and went on to work for a total of four other justices, Wendell Bennett, Don McCandless, Wayne Hanson and Marwood. Presenting certificate of recognition from the State House of Representatives is State Rep. Greg Lucas [R]. Headley noted computerization as the biggest change in her office work, going from handwritten ledgers books and all hand written reports to two computer changes and the increased criminal case load handled in the office. Noting she’ll miss the people she has worked with - in office, county courthouse, police - she points to a new chapter beginning in her life that will include golfing, traveling and spending more time with her grandchildren. She is married to Ron Headley. The couple reside in the Linesville area. The District Justice office area covers 4 boroughs and 12 townships.
