Stone Memorial Library

CONNEAUTVILLE - Stone Memorial Library is where all are welcome to visit, read, study, participate, and chat! We provide access to books, audiobooks, DVDs, access to computers and the internet as well as WiFi, board games and puzzles, magazines, and more. We also have quite a few programs that are open and FREE for all those willing to participate.

We recently added some new technology to our collection! Our newest item type available to borrow is a hot spot, which uses the T-Mobile cell network to create a WiFi signal that you can use to access the internet wherever you are. Please contact the library for more details.

Bring the kids every Tuesday morning for Story Time. Come in around 10 am for a bit of socializing, playtime, crafting, interactive storytelling, and snacks, all put together by Julie Klingler. Each week we explore early learning and literacy with a new theme.

Our weekly Stitch Club meets weekly on Thursdays at 10 am. All skill levels and types of stitchery are welcome to join, from crocheting and knitting to embroidery.

Our monthly Book Club will be reading The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown for February. The next book club meeting will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 6 pm. Copies of the book are available to borrow at the library. Call or stop in for more information.

Saturday Crafternoons are here! On February 8, we will be offering a Cricut vinyl class, where you can learn how to cut designs using a Cricut machine out of Vinyl! The class will last from 2 to 4 pm. On February 22, we will be offering a Woodburning workshop from 2 to 3:30 pm. Come get creative with us!

Thank you to all of those who continue to show support for our library. Without such strong support from our community, we would be unable to properly serve our community. The Community News can now be purchased at Stone Memorial Library. Stop by during library hours.

If there is a book or a program that you would like to see in our library, be sure to let our director Lauren Lowery know!

But for those of you who are loyal to the paper literature, we just got another new batch of bestsellers in. Some new fiction and non-fiction books on the “New Book” shelves this week are: Thomas Perry “ A Small Town”, Robin Cook “Genesis”, Jane Ann Krentz “The Vanishing”, Clive Cussler “Final Option” and “Pioneer Woman Cooks- The New Frontier”. We have new books for kids and teens as well.

Our craft workshops continue on the third Thursday of each month. Most of our workshops are free. And we typically have a craft for kids under 12 as well. We are currently planning an additional Valentine’s workshop for February 6th. Local artist, Tammy Clement, will be here to coach us making “pernickys”. They are ornaments that look like gingerbread valentine hearts . Watch for more workshops on our Facebook page and on our website.

Public libraries are a great asset to any community. We are continually upgrading our system and adding more services for our patrons. In addition to a first rate pre-school storytime and popular craft workshops we have had senior gadget classes, community chat evenings, lego club, book club and more. Most recently, we are adding hotspots. Hotspots operate on the T-mobile network and grant internet access to the patron. The library does not track your usage. But they can turn off usage if not returned on time. The new hotspots are available to check out for 14 days at all Crawford County libraries. Check out our website or Facebook page to see more.
