Stone Memorial Library

CONNEAUTVILLE - Happy New Year from Stone Memorial Library, where all are welcome to visit, read, study, participate, and chat! We provide access to books, audiobooks, DVDs, access to computers and the internet as well as WiFi, board games and puzzles, magazines, and more. We also have quite a few programs that are open and FREE for all those willing to participate.

We recently added some new technology to our collection! Our newest item type available to borrow is a hot spot, which uses the T-Mobile cell network to create a WiFi signal that you can use to access the internet wherever you are. Please contact the library for more details.

Bring the kids every Tuesday morning for Story Time. Come in around 10 am for a bit of socializing, playtime, crafting, interactive storytelling, and snacks, all put together by Julie Klingler. Each week we explore early learning and literacy with a new theme.

Our weekly Stitch Club meets weekly on Thursdays at 10 am. All skill levels and types of stitchery are welcome to join, from crocheting and knitting to embroidery.

Our monthly Book Club will be reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. This month’s meeting will take place at Stone Memorial on Thursday, January 16, at 6 pm.

Family Game Night was held on Monday, January 6, from 5-7pm. Bring your family or friends along and play with our board games each Family Game Night! We have a number of games to choose from, including Candy Land, Scrabble, and Settlers of Catan.

We will also be introducing our weekly Saturday Crafternoons series to the mix this month! Each week we will explore a new 1 hour crafting related activity. Join us on Saturday, January 18, at 2 pm for the popular Doodle Pens program, where you can draw and create 3-D objects in the air.

You can also join us the following week, on Saturday, January 25, for a Cardboard Makedo program, where we will be repurposing cardboard to create fun costumes to play with. Both programs are family oriented, and all are welcome to come craft along.

Thank you to all of those who continue to show support for our library. Without such strong support from our community, we would be unable to properly serve our community. It is because of you that we can continue to serve you by providing all that we can.

If there is a book or a program that you would like to see in our library, be sure to let our director Lauren Lowery know!

The Stone Memorial Library is located at 1101 Main St. Conneautville PA, 16406. We are open Monday & Friday, 1 – 6pm, Tuesday & Thursday, 9am – 6pm, and Saturdays 9am – 4pm. Feel free to also contact us via phone / fax at 814-587-2142.

- A Gold Level Library -

SPRINGBORO - “SPL” welcomes 2020 with a plan for more community outreach! We are continually adding services, media and workshops.

This month we go back to the 3rd Thursday of each month for craft workshops! Our next workshop will be on January 16, at 6 pm. We will be making icicle hangings for your windows, walls or doors. Hope to see all of our crafty patrons there for some winter fun. There will be a craft for the kids as well.

Kids can also do crafts on Saturdays at 11 am when we hold “Kids Create” for kids from pre-school age to age 11. This workshop follows our pre-school story time. Kids Create and story time are led by an experienced Pre- K teacher. We welcome parents to stay and read or get on the internet or check out our CD selection or check out a movie, etc.

Our New Book” shelves are still at the front of the library. We try to keep the most recent and popular authors and titles from many different catagories. Some new fiction and non-fiction books on display this week are: Nora Robert’s” Rise of the Magicks”, Allen Eskens “Nothing More Dangerous”, Lauraine Snelling’s “A Song of Joy”, Robin Cook’s “Genesis” and Jack Fairweather’s “The Volunteer”.

Remember, we continually update our magazine, music and movie selections as well. Come in and check out all the new kid’s and adult movies for January. We have some television series on DVD also.

Public libraries are a great asset to any community. We are continually upgrading our system and adding more services for our patrons. In addition to a first rate pre-school storytime and popular craft workshops we have had senior cafes, community chat evenings, game and puzzle nights, book clubs and more. Most recently, we are adding hotspots. Hotspots operate on the T-mobile network and grant internet access to the patron. The library does not track your usage. But they can turn off usage if not returned on time. The new hotspots are available to check out for 14 days at all Crawford County libraries. Check out our website or Facebook page to see more.

Interested in extra college credits? Check out our website’s Universal classes. All you need is a library card. All classes are free!

Remember, it is free to get a library card for kids and adults. There are many benefits. Take advantage of all your library has to offer. We aim to provide the most current educational materials as well as entertainment media and crafts for our community.

We have collection #4 of the rotating Playaways in. If you have never tried “playaways”, they are a nice alternative to books . Just plug in your head phones and settle in somewhere comfortable to listen. They are for all ages and include fiction and non-fiction.

Library hours are: Monday through Thursday, 12 pm. - 7:30 pm, Fridays, 12 pm - 4 pm and Saturday 9 am - 4 pm.
