Reflections on the 4th...

I made an observation,
Don’t know what significance there is.
We each had a flag on the front porch
And mine was waving more than his.

Seemed strange to me at the moment,
Not sure I’ve seen this before
Put a call in to alert him
And he came racing out the door.

He pulled Old Glory from its holder
And began waving it back and forth.
Cars beeped as they were passing.
There’s a man who knows it’s July fourth!

Of course I’m not one to be out-done
And joined in the patriotic display.
The missus raced out and grabbed me,
“What will the neighbors say?”

One neighbor was in the spirit
As he stood atop the family car.
I know my wife’s look when I see it
I wasn’t about to go that far!
