Reflections On Christmas Past

When they asked what I wanted this Christmas,
I answered the same day-after-day.
I’ve got everything a man could possibly want
No matter what anyone might say.

A woman who has shared these past fifty years
And never one complaint have I heard.
She gave me two sons along the way,
To not be proud would be absurd.

Three grandchildren that are the greatest presents
Any man could ever receive.
No doubt that God has blessed this life,
His generosity I shall always believe.

So I told them, “Don’t ask what I want for Christmas,
The answer is etched on my mind.
Thank you for inquiring,” I said politely,
“What could I want when God’s been so kind?”
