Memory Shelf

I've seen better days and I've seen worse
But I can live with what I got
As long as the Lord gives me another day
I accept it without a second thought.

Now as the days turn into years
Each become more precious than the last
I find nothing but bitter tears
For each wasted day that passed.

As each morning comes I face it
And try to be the best I can
To make it a day to remember
A race I won, not just ran.

Each day should hold a memory
And placed with care on memory shelf
To be used and distributed as needed
To calm and soothe an aging self.
