Final Chapter, Last Page

After four score years of living
The question is what comes next
The answer varies in many ways
Depending on your choice of text.

The Bible allows you may go to Heaven
Or if worst comes to worst you go to Hell
Other texts you choose to peruse
May have a different story to tell.

All and all after years of experience and searching
I’m left with a void in my knowledge
I can hope but I can’t know for certain
Until we turn the book’s last page.

If I may be bold enough to offer a suggestion
Review your life style starting today
Give your assistance without expecting reward
Be kind and thoughtful all along life’s way.

When your life’s scroll is unrolled for review
And a tally is made of the good and bad
So make each remaining day all you can
And hope the Lord’s mercy is yours to be had.
