Better Than Best

The other day as I sat thinking
Of that part of life that was the best
What part of life was the most exhilarating
It really put my mind to the test.

I thought of days when I was younger
And also of days when I had grown older
Days when I was the hit of the party
And times when I sat at home alone.

Then with my memory working overtime
I could feel my theory falling a part
And something far better had taken its place
Something that came straight from the heart.

Now as I look at the piles of good and bad
Far more are happy than those that are sad
With this in mind I draw conclusion
That it's time to be thankful for the life I've had.
