Thoughts at the start of a new year >>>

Again, Again, and Again

I saw an old man even older than me
He sat on a bench facing the sea
While I watched the old man made not a move
And I said to myself, what are you trying to prove?

The old man watched every wave rolling in
Then watched them again, again and again
I said to myself, is that all he has to do?
Some day soon that could happen to you.

I stepped up to the bench ready to talk
And then to myself I said, go take a walk
For somehow I knew he was on memory lane
Living his good times, again and again.

So since I’ve been talking to myself a lot
I decided to take inventory of what I’ve got
A lot of life’s moments are all stashed away
But a few more won't hurt day by day by day.

Someday I’ll sit by my window, not the sea
No foaming ocean just a landscape for me
I’ll let my mind graze down memory lane
And re-live precious moments, again, again and again.
