Conneaut School District architects weighed in on the current study of B.U.S.S - Better Utilization of School Space when the Conneaut School Directors met in work session Wednesday evening.
With committees of citizens, board members and administration reviewing plans as to how best use Conneaut Schools in the near future as the district struggles with declining enrollment, static real estate values, and declining state support [state cut basic educational support back to the 2008-09 levels in this year's budget] , not to mention a spike in retirement rates the state has basically left unaddressed for almost 20 years, the architects did a review of the various options being studied and shared their results with those in attendance at the work session.
First the architects, using state Department of Education [PDE]projections from 7/20/10, and this year's actual school enrollment figures, the state had projected 2,499 students for this school year. Actual third day enrollment figures show 2,368 students, a difference of 131.
Actual third day enrollment figures for the entire Conneaut School District showed a drop of 103 students alone from the year before, and about 600 students in the past 10 years.

The Supervisors of North Shenango Township held a Town Hall Meeting on September 24, to discuss the negative side of the Marcellus Shale Gas Drilling Industry.
Supervisors Jeff Daniels, Eloise Settlemyre and Bill Emerick sponsored the meeting and provided donuts and coffee for the audience, paying for the refreshments out of their own pockets.
No taxpayer money was used to pay for any aspect of the meeting.
A private citizen donated $20.00 from his own pocket to the NST Community Center, a non-profit entity.
The NST Supervisors continue to offer free rental of the DVD Documentary, "Gasland" by Joshua Fox, which was nominated for an Academy Award this year.
It follows the story of Fox and the town of Dimmick, PA, and the drilling for natural gas out in Eastern Pennsylvania, along with the consequences. Families are featured who have had to leave their homes due to environmental damage and water contamination so severe that faucets can be lit on fire.
Citizens interested in viewing "Gasland" may call 724- 927- 2568 and make an appoint- ment with the township secretary.
The DVD rental is free, please return it to the township office, damage free, when finished.

Sadsbury Township supervisors, in their September meeting, dealt with the Zoning Report as submitted by Paul Roiz which he read aloud.
There has been a myriad of complaints on property and junk violations. Citizens are complaining about neighbors who are letting grass grow too high, or leaving campers and boats laying around.
Others have cars left setting, along with old tires or other miscellaneous junk.
ST does a courtesy telephone call first, to warn a citizen of possible violations.
If there is no response and no clean up, a certified letter is then sent to the property owner.
Time tables are set, to give the property owner every chance to comply.
Several of the citizens present were there to complain to the Board about possible property and junk maintenance issues.
Solicitor R. Charles Thomas gave his report, which fell in line with the discussion about property maintenance.
He said that the Pat Lace property continues to be a topic of complaint
