Citizens addressing members of the Conneaut School Board on July 6, brought a mixed message to the school leaders as nine residents spoke offering differing ideas as to what the future of the school district should look like.
Regardless of the comments, huge decisions face the residents of the district as issues of declining enrolment and tight finances need to be addressed among others.
Four committees are being organized to study the areas of facility use, transportation, budget and curriculum with the district seeking volunteers to serve as the issues are explored
It was decided to increase to three volunteers from each attendance area, instead of two, on each of the committees and to limit the volunteers to one per family to give more residents a chance to serve.
The committee meetings, which should be starting in the next week-and-a-half, will be announced soon, and a first meeting date set.
The committee meetings will be open to the public.

Kathleen Hootman, a Pine Township resident, has been appointed to the Conneaut School Board of Directors, the appointment coming when school directors met in a combined July work session and regular board meeting Wednesday evening at Linesville High School.
She will fill the Voting Region 1 vacancy created by the June resignation of Cheryl Krachkowski, who had served about two years, appointed when Lee Livingston moved from the district. Krachkowski had moved from Region 1 to Voting Region 2 and could no longer retain the Region 1 seat.
Two people applied for the appointment - Hootman and Brian Boyce of Beaver Township.
Voting Region 1 is made up of Linesville borough and the townships of Beaver, Conneaut, North Shenango, Pine, and West Fallowfield.

The Sadsbury Board of Supervisors held for their June meeting recently with presiding Board members Kevin VanHonk, Roy Whaley and Don Ellis in attendance. Secretary Rose Mumau took the minutes and there were 14 concerned citizens present.
A representative from the Morningshores Drive/Development stood to ask the Board about the status of paving the road on Morningshore Drive.
She stated that the Board had informed her and the Association that paving would commence when the building of houses was complete.
The citizens would like the road paved, and the woman produced some copies of letters sent, regarding water drainage issues around this street.
These letters were sent in 2009.
