The Community News, in offering the new edition on line, is always looking for better ways to serve our readers. In an effort to make our Newspaper more available we have partnered with T.J's Internet Marketing, of Linesville, to offer a "Digital Edition" of The Community News.
The Digital Edition is an electronic version of the entire news paper that can be downloaded over the Internet. There is nothing left out, all the stories, articles, photographs and advertisements are included in the download. The newspaper is downloaded as a “.pdf” file, which will open in the ubiquitous Adobe Reader software. Adobe Reader is probably already installed on your computer, however if it is not, it is a freely available at www.adobe.com. In trials for the new way to subscribe and read the Community News, several of our columnists’ have tested the system and we at Community News believe it is ready to go. The issue you are reading right now along with the three previous issues are on the download page ready to be downloaded by digital subscribers. There are no additional charges for downloading previous issues. Payment is accomplished online through the PayPal financial system. The Community News web site does not retain or even “see” any of the payment information. All the subscription prices are the same as the hard copy prices subscribers receive in the mail. The payment processing fees charged by PayPal force us to charge .95¢ to download the “Single Copy,” however “Single Copy” customers are still welcome to download the available back issues.
At this time we offer four issues for download. The current issue and the three previous issues. Those will rotate each week, adding the newest issue and removing the oldest issue.
Of course your feedback and suggestions are welcome. We would like very much to hear from you about the download experience, how you like the digital edition when you get it, if it is easy to read, how it works on your computer and suggestions of how we might make it better. Tom Deighton of T.J's Internet Marketing said, "Now that the download functionality has been installed on the website it can be used to offer more than just the newspaper itself. Downloads of picture sets, printable event flyers or advertising specials could also be made available to website visitors. Ray's Market Place Food Store in Linesville, PA posts their weekly specials every Friday as web pages and a “.pfd”download.Email your thoughts and suggestions to David Schaef, Publisher, or Tom Deighton, Webmaster. Contact information for both is available on the Community News web site under the Contact Us link, located in the right sidemenu, As an addendum to the print version of this article, I would like to Thank the fine folks at EE Ticket.com Forum for allowing me to announce the launching of this Digital Edition of The Community News.
See the Linesville thread about the announcement. 14 responses and almost 400 views, as of this writing.
EE Ticket is an online Forum where people in Crawford, Erie, Mercer and Venango Counties can voice their opinions and ideas and just communicate with one another in general.
As you can see by the nuimbers we have a lively thread and I received a warm welcome.
