BNY Mellon Wealth Management Accepting Applications for Van Horne Fund Scholarships

Legacy of Late World War I Veteran is Education

PITTSBURGH, February 3, 2010 - BNY Mellon Wealth Management is accepting applications for the Estella Van Horne Educational Fund scholarship. All Crawford County high school seniors planning to continue their post-graduate education are eligible to apply.

Recognizing that education is the best investment we could make in our future, the late Miss Van Horne, a U.S. Army nurse who served during World War I, created the educational trust to provide financial assistance to deserving and able young adults from the Crawford County area, north of Pittsburgh.

Application instructions for the Estella Van Horne Educational Fund scholarship may be obtained from any Crawford County high school guidance department. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of need, high school achievement, personal recommendations and personal educational goals.

The scholarship fund selection committee is comprised of the Van Horne Educational Fund trustee, a financial aid professional and a representative of the Crawford County Historical Society. The 2010 Van Horne scholarship recipients will be announced in June.
