Linesville Borough Councilwoman Sue Lewandowski has resigned from the Linesville council, citing in her Nov. 30, 2010, letter of resignation that she was "resigning my position due to repeated underhanded tactics from the council president, false accusations and inappropriate behavior in regards to a public position from council president."

She wrote that "perhaps at a later time without Mr. Fizer in his role I would again be an asset to council."

Lewandowski was serving as the council vice president.

Council is accepting expressions of interest to fill the position with whoever being appointed serving to the end of 2011 as this year is a local election year and someone should run for the seat in the election to begin serving in January of 2012.

Several seats on council will also be up for election this year due to other appointments to serve on council.

Council, at its December meeting, approved 2011 budgets without a tax increase.

At its November meeting, the Linesville council, consisting of President Pete Fizer, Lewandowski, Laura Deal, Rhonda Hershelman, Sharon Kobel, Kevin McGrath and Ron Vennare, voted to indefinitely postpone the vote on a decision to join or not join the Conneaut Lake Regional Police Department. That vote passed 4-3 with Deal, Hershelman, Kobel and Lewandowski voting yes to postpone while Fizer, McGrath, and Vennare voted no..

The motion ended a proposed motion by McGrath to decline joining with the Lake department.

Following that vote. a Lewandowski vote to develop a task force to look into the best options for the Linesville Borough as to joining the Lake Police Department or stay with its own department passed on a 4-3 vote as noted above.

Council, on a 6-1 vote, Lewandowski voting no, voted to promote police officer Ben Walker to Sergeant so he could serve as officer in charge.
