The school board recently deeded some property at the old Harmonsburg Grade School to the township. It was not the school building itself that was given to the township but the ball fields, playground and the woods.

Township Solicitor William Walker said they will wait until January to record the deed as they will be going for a tax exemption for the property and some procedures must be followed in order to do so. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the township to wait until the beginning of the year to officially record the deed, according to Walker.

The reason for the exemption would be due to the recreational nature of the property.

Even though it probably isn't totally necessary to do so, Walker thought it would be a good idea to notify the insurance agency of the newly acquired land.

MDIA (Middle Department Inspection Agency) has been using the township building to carry out business ventures as of late. The township has begun to work out a lease agreement with the agency since they have been using the utilities, etc. MDIA agreed to pay the rent which should begin this month.
