Gregg clarified further by stating that there was nothing at all detrimental in the request and listed the reasons. He said, in essence, that the whole deal was non hazardous, was pleasing to the eye, did not endanger the general welfare of the public due to fumes, odors, air pollution, excessive noise, etc. and in general, would not harm anyone in any way.

R. Charles spoke next again and said that his major concern was that of parking and he felt that when folks get a hot dog and/or ice cream, they generally sit on site and eat it, rather than driving off with it.

There was some banter about this but in the end, Gregg reminded everyone that they had met the parking requirements.

Just to clarify further, Roiz was asked specifically if the zoning requirements for parking were met for the following: Pelican Landing II, the proposed office space, the hot dog and ice cream stand, suites, etc. and he answered by saying, “That's correct.”

It was asked that the record reflect that no one from the public had attended the hearing to object to the proposal.

Toward the very end of the hearing, Singleterry asked if supervisors had read the question of the week in this publication which had asked what type of business would most benefit an area.

One young gentleman had answered that he thought an ice cream establishment would be best and Singleterry said he'd like to find the kid and offer him a free cone in the future.

CN Reporter Lisa Houserman spoke up and said that she knew him as he is her neighbor. On that , the hearing ended on an up beat note.

At the regularly scheduled meeting of the supervisors, which took place ten minutes later, the Pelican request was the first order of business.

It passed with flying colors as all supervisors voted unanimously to allow the additional uses at the venue.
