Tickets are now on sale for the eighth annual Conneaut Lake Cuisine, sponsored by Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society. The event, set for May 3, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Station Five, the former Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall. The cuisine is an event where local restaurants and food vendors provide samples of specialty items for guests to taste. Twenty vendors have signed up to participate. They include several new ones and many of past vendors. Signed up to date are: Miller's Food Factory, Silver Shores, Tink's Sub Shop, The Light House, Pizza Hut, Sheetz, KFC, Zatsick’s Golden Dawn Store, Station Five, The Palms, Hotel Conneaut, Pelican Landing, Judy Hughes, ghost of Mama Bear's; the historical society, Valenza's Restaurant, Saegertown Beverage, Yuen's Garden Chinese Restaurant, Crawford County Dairy Princess, Livingston's Quality Meats and Casey's Ice Cream and Candies . "We are pleased with the support our area restaurants and food vendors give us each year," said Jane Smith, society business manager and chairman of the Cuisine. “It is only because of their generosity that we are able to have the successful event. It is a major fundraiser for the society and proceeds are used to maintain and operate the historical society's museum in downtown Conneaut Lake. We are indebted to those who support us by providing the food and services for the event." In the past, the menu has include a nice variety of foods - everything from soup to salad to pizza, subs, dessert, stir fry chicken, wings and others. "Each restaurant chooses what it wants to serve and we have been delighted with the nice variety of items," said Smith. In addition to supporting the historical society, the event allows these vendors the opportunity to showcase their specialties. "It has become a community event," said Smith noting that it is always sold out. Tickets are limited to only 250 people. We limit the number because we must be sensitive to the fact that our restaurants and vendors are donating the food and we don't want to take advantage of their generosity," said Smith. "Many of these same businesses are supporting us in other events as well," she added. Price for a ticket is $12 - the same price as the past several years. Tickets can be purchased by calling: Gail Fales, 382-3892; Phyllis Amolsch, 382-8513; or Smith at 337-6377. In other society news, replicas of three boats of Conneaut Lake will be on display at the county historical event, now open at the Yolanda Barco Oncology Center, Conneaut Lake. The society is exhibiting replicas of the Liberty the Second, Miss Conneaut and The Pennsylvania boats. All have been made to scale by two members to demonstrate the boats. |
