Page 1 of 2 During the November meeting of the Sadsbury Township Supervisors, Zoning Officer Paul Roiz reported on a dilapidated building located at 12297 Comstock Street, in Conneaut Lake Park. Roiz said he had been working with CLP Board of Trustees members, Carol West and Jack Moyers, to try and get things in order in terms of the building. Roiz said that the CLP Board is going to address that issue during their monthly meeting. After which, they will make their intentions known to the township in writing. Roiz said he had spoken with Moyers prior to the meeting and Moyers said the letter should be submitted soon. By press time, this might have already come to fruition. Moyers had asked Roiz what their options were and he was told that ideally, the township would like to see the building torn down. Roiz said that Moyers had concerns with destroying the structure because of the difficulty in using the lot afterwards due to legal set-backs, etc. Roiz told Moyers that he could also conduct a thorough clean up, insure the safety of the building, remove debris and basically make sure that the structure is deemed to be sound. According to Moyers, the building had been examined and it was determined to be structurally sound. He just wasn’t sure it would be worth it to put a lot of time and money into it. Moyers, along with the rest of the CLP board, will make a decision as soon as they are able and the township will then be notified. Roiz stated to supervisors that there was no need for an enforcement notice to be sent at this time, as they have been cooperative. During the October meeting, a travel trailer behind Antonio’s Restaurant, on the west side of the lake, was discussed. There had been some mention of it being used as a residence. Roiz said he had tried to reach the owner but hadn’t been able to do so. He also sent a letter by regular mail and said his next move was to send a registered letter. Supervisor Roy Whaley said that it looks like people are utilizing the trailer only when the restaurant is opened. In a discussion with Tony Bernard, owner of Antonio’s, the day after the meeting, he stated that he had caught up with Roiz and had told him that the trailer is not being used as a residence. He said that it is not hooked into the sewage or anything like that. Bernard imparted that he likes to rest in the trailer, on occasion, during the work day. There were several good reports including that the area across from Nye’s Marina had been cleaned up and a dumpster had also been removed from Nye’s. Also, Page’s Tire and Auto had been told to carry out some clean up and they have complied. In terms of the lot at the intersection of 322 and Route 18, Mr. Miller had come before the board very early in the year with a request to locate a business, that sells storage sheds and other wooded items, at that location. At first, there had been some concern about the set-back in terms of PennDOT but, everything has now been cleared for construction to begin on that lot, according to Roiz. He said that the lighting, well and driveway permits were all in order and all is good to go. There is a property on the east side owned by Pat Lace on which a home was to be constructed. Mrs. Lace’s husband passed away and the work came to a stand-still. Because the project has not moved along, the original hole for the foundation is laying open. The situation has caused many people to complain because it is seen as a hazard. An enforcement notice has been delivered to the family but there has been no response. Roiz and R. Charles are both keeping on top of this to the fullest extent of their abilities at this time. Moving along to the road department, Road Master Dave Hubbard reported that they are ready for the snow to fly. The crew has also been carrying out some ditching and leaf cleaning to prevent clogging. New road signs have arrived and are in compliance with the new law, which states that signs must be eight inches wide with six inch lettering. Hubbard said they are changing them out a bit at a time, and the east side should be completed soon. They must all be changed by 2014, or 15, according to Hubbard. Several months ago, during another supervisor meeting, the subject of Bolen Road was broached. Bolen is the road that leads into the game lands off of Canal Road. Supervisors would like to vacate it because it serves no use to them. Whaley said that it should be taken over by the game land officials, as it is primarily used by them. He said that it didn’t make sense to continue to use the township’s equipment, time and energy since, “we get no use out of it.”
