This morning I watched the day dawn on the large maple tree in my yard and was glad for the knowledge that I was living in northwest Pennsylvania; because fall is truly beautiful in this slice of the U. S. -- albeit telling of the long winter ahead. In the past autumn always produced a longing for home when we were living in various regions of the United States and we have numerous photos of our children running through the golden leaves of Grandma Comp’s back yard as evidence of my sentimental trek to Pennsylvania in the fall. So, to add more fuel to my love of all things Pennsylvania and fall, I had the opportunity to share a tour of the Conneaut Valley Area Historical Society (CVAHS) museum with the St. Peter Parish Altar and Rosary Society this week. Betty Kovac, CVAHS President, had requested some “help” for the evening and I was glad I was free to join the group. Admittedly, I was no help but I certainly had a good time meeting new people, hearing Betty’s guided tour, and visiting with everyone. If you are part of the St. Peter Parish you may want to join in with this group of remarkable women. Also, if you have time on a Saturday, you may request a tour during the Museum’s open hours in the early afternoon. While at the museum I had my first glimpse of the new book Around Conneautville. An upcoming event the society is anticipating is a book signing with Tyler Mattera, author of Around Conneautville*, which is a pictorial history of Conneautville distributed by Arcadia Publishing. The book signing date is yet to be determined, so hopefully it will be advertised well. If you do not want to wait for the book signing, the books are available around town or at the Museum for $20.00. If you are interested in giving a comprehensive pictorial history as a gift for Christmas, be sure to pick up a copy. Enjoy your autumn in northwest Pennsylvania, it’s beautiful, isn’t it? *Note from webmaster: This book is available on Amazon dot com and includes a comprehensive preview of the book.
