The Winter snows and wind have decided to arrive early this year and our Road Crews are busy plowing and clearing local roads to keep our citizens safe, sometimes at 3:00am.

Special thanks goes out to Don Goodenow and Crew for their efforts.

Many of our snow birds have flown already; we hope they all have a safe time while they are away from Espyville, and happy returns, too.

Pymatuning Lake looks wild and harsh at this time of year, possessing a rugged, country beauty unseen by many.

And while we couldn’t make it across the Causeway the other day, due to snow and poor visibility, we still enjoy the cold, wintery sunsets and snow as a part of our lives that we do, though we shouldn’t, take for granted.

Who doesn’t like the sight of a bald eagle cruising around above the waves, or the fish at the Spillway diverting us from our daily drudgery?

Thank God the Bread Police took a hike and everyone was able to toss some risen yeast to the bottom-feeding carp who live there.

And don’t tell me you didn’t sneak a small bite out of that Jewish Rye; it just smelled too good to let the carp have it all.

Karen the Cougar continues her Sunday afternoon vigil on her Steelers’ fleece every weekend; that team is just driving Brian and ************************ me to drink.

First it looks like they’ll be in the Playoffs, then it looks like they’re not, then it looks like a Wild Card and then maybe not.

Grown men can be heard around Pymatuning Lake, crying in their beers, every time BigBen throws on first and goal down at the 3rd yard line.

Maybe BigBen will behave himself off field this time; Karen the Cougar was appalled at all the lascivious behavior, why, he’s worse than an old Tomcat, according to her.

The sound of cannon fire will be heard at the corner of Bullis and 285 when the Steel Curtain makes number 7.

Brian has bought me a ring for Christmas, but don’t cry, boys, I’ll still be hanging around Espyville.

Besides, it’s a Friendship ring, not an Engagement ring.

We hosted Roseanne’s 12th Annual Christmas Bonfire at the trailer last weekend, with Rick Ringeisen and Davy Jones coming up from Pittsburgh, and some of our local Espyvillians partaking of some Christmas cheer.

The bonfire was huge and could be seen all the way to Smoky City.

Please post a bright, blue light in your house window to show support for your local Fire Department.

Ours is the Fabulous 17 House, out of Espyville, and these men and women are all-volunteer, dedicating their time to training and equipment maintenance, along with putting their very lives in danger, fighting fires and rescuing people from gruesome accidents.

They are the ones who get out of bed at 4:00am in the dark and cold of winter, and you’ll be very happy to see their big, red fire engines pulling up should you ever need their help.

Please remember 17 House in your Christmas donations, as it is very expensive to run a Fire House, and be generous, give away lots of green paper with Ben Franklin’s picture on it.

Somebody tell Dave White that I want lots and lots of Twinkies in my Christmas stocking this year, and if I’m not home, just slip them under the doorstep.

Folks, it’s been a real pleasure writing for you over this past year; I just can’t say enough about Espyville and all it has to offer!

Say a prayer that the Powers-that-Be will come to their senses and open Tuttle Beach again; it sure helps the local economy.

Be sure to stop in at Li’l Bit, they have some great clam chowder and pie, and remember the Lakeside General, that Bomb of theirs really is DaBomb.

Soon, a brand new year will be ushered in all over this great land of ours.

I hope yours is a bright and peaceful one, and remember, Jesus is the Reason for the Season.

Go ahead, call an old friend, fly the flag, get together with family, kiss the dog, go the extra mile, hold your temper, lose some weight, take care of your knees, pull out all those old photographs and take a peek at Wonderful You and just see how fabulous you really looked!

We’ll talk again soon.

Be sure to stick around in Espyville, where the people are friendlier, the fish are bigger, the beer is colder, the cows give more milk and old Steelers fans never die.

Keep the snow off your bumper and the ice off your tail.

Thanks for reading the Espyville Buzz and keep on buying the Community News.

Leaving you for now with the immortal sounds of the Glenn Miller Band and a little "Moonlight Serenade," sponsored by Chesterfields.
