Apparently the NSVFD 17 House had a big St. Patrick’s Day blow-out up at Crowley’s Restaurant in Cranesville, complete with bagpipes and drums. Tell Mike and Dave White I have a bone to pick with them because nobody invited me, and I like Crowley’s Restaurant and bagpipes and drums. Erin-Go- Harr-rummph!!!

Maybe Mike White just forgot to invite this reporter; he certainly had a near miss at a recent house fire over in Andover, and this ain’t no April Fools:

17 House arrived to assist the Andover Fire Department, with the structure fully involved. Mike White had to jump out onto a porch roof from the second story, just as the Andover Fire Captain gave the evacuation orders. As White jumped off of the porch roof to the ground, the entire second story and roof collapsed.

Also fighting the fire was NSVFD Captain Graczyk, Fire Police Schellman and Firefighters Fedenets, Black, Craig, Ray, B. Vickery and D. White.

The Quint saw some action, along with various other equipment from 17 House.

Karen the Cougar thought she should be invited to the 17 House St. Patrick’s Day party, too. She thinks she is a wild Irish lass and loves to lounge on the Pati’o Furniture, sip green beer all day and have her fair share of corned beef, 86 on the cabbage.

She could be seen in the yard at the trailer chasing leprechauns and searching for a pot o’ gold.

I told her the Luck o’ the Irish is already with us; we have our own King Brian in residence and he’s better than a pot o’ gold any day of the week.

Erin-Go-Meow!!

Remember to patronize our local eateries such as Li’l Bit, Lakeside General and Russell’s Restaurant. These businesses depend on local support as well as tourist dollars to stay open, so some night when you don’t feel like cooking, pick one out you like and go relax.

The bald eagles are making numerous, spectacular appearances up at the Spillway. There appears to be a juvenile pair, and another adult pair that frequent the vicinity. For an enjoyable afternoon, get a spyglass and go there.

The other day, Brian and I were hiking on the old rail road bed and, no lie, folks, we saw an eagle swoop down and catch a fish, right before our eyes!

Stuff like that can be seen on television documentaries, but it is very rare to have the opportunity to see it right in front of you.

The eagle could barely lift off the water, and flew out further to a shoreline where it landed and proceeded to eat the fish.

Perhaps the Indian spirits are smiling on us.

The Espyville All Boys Coffee Klatch should be returning to full force, soon. Some of the boys are snowbirds and they disappear from Espyville every winter.

We hope they all have a safe trip back as it is turning out to be a beautiful Spring here in the Lakelands; funny we haven’t seen Glenn Linn plowing any fields as of yet.

Rumor has it that Glenn pulls in from Florida and hops straight on to his tractor.

Rick Ringeisen and Davy Jones have been spotted out and about, probably looking for a good antique shop or junk sale. The gusty, wintry weather that blows into Espyville doesn’t seem to affect them at all; they are cheery all year long, no matter what Mother Nature has in store.

Little flowers are blooming and birds are singing, but you know what they say about April showers.

Keep the rain off your bumper and the mud off your tail.

Thanks for reading the Espyville Buzz and keep on buying the Community News.

Leaving you with the immortal sounds of the Glenn Miller Band and a little "Moonlight Serenade," sponsored by Chesterfields.
