Brrr! Troy Polumalu did see his shadow on the second, I demand 6 more weeks of football. The Brown Bag Bingo continues every Monday all winter, down at the Community Center in Espyville. Doors open at 10:00 am, with games at noon. The Bonanza Bingo is cancelled until March. The NST Community Center is now offering Saturday Bingo, the next one is scheduled for February 20 and February 27, 2010. It is all paper, with free coffee, doors open at 11:30am. Community Center Music Fests resume on Friday, March 12, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Anyone with musical talent is invited to perform. There are several vacancies open at the Center, this following the resignation of Carol Torsney, as accepted at the February meeting of NST Supers. Crime Watch for February is on the 18th, down at South Shenango on Collins Road. The meeting starts at 7:00pm and the speaker is to be announced. There will be coffee and cake served afterwards. There are several vacancies on the two Crime Watch Boards that still need to be filled. Tax Collector Geri Godina holds office hours on Wednesdays from 8:00am to 10:00am and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 9:00am to noon. For information on delinquent Real Estate Taxes or questions for prior years, direct calls to the Tax Claim Bureau at the Crawford County Courthouse, (814) 336-1151. Welcome back to Township Secretary Denise Gray, in her familiar spot next to the Board of Supervisors; seen at the regular township meeting last Monday night. She can also be reached for building permits at her office Monday through Friday from 8:00am, to 4:30pm. The Building and Code Enforcement Officer is Bob Hutton. His office hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00am to noon, at the township building. All residential and electrical inspections should be directed to MDIA, or Middle Department at 800-828-6342. From the NSVFD, of 17 House, their monthly meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm, with Training scheduled every Tuesday. Happy 17 House Birthdays go out to Ken Norris on the 21st and Bob Potts on the 26th. The NSVFD reminds people to install smoke detectors in their houses, clean their chimneys during the winter months to prevent fires, and to keep the vents on wood stoves under careful attention. They go on to say: drive carefully in the snow, do not tailgate and turn on headlights in rain or snow. Carrying a set of working jumper cables in your car is also recommended. Thanks go out to Road Master Don Goodenow and Crew for plowing the Espyville roads all winter. That new truck should be here soon. Other February Birthdays include our own CN star Lisa Houseman on the 9th, Helen Artis on the 20th and Charles Faux on the 22nd. It seems that Karen the Cougar has fallen under Cupid’s spell; her suitor TommyBoy has taken up residence at the trailer, under her watchful eye. Perhaps his dashing appearance of a black tuxedo, complete with gloves, has won her attention. Or perhaps it is his gifts of salmon and deli turkey that did the trick; oh, pardon me, those were Brian’s leftovers. Brian and I celebrated our 2-year Anniversary together on Valentine's’s Day and 31 years as friends. He is a great person and a great friend and I am a better person for knowing him. The stars at night above the trailer are still shining brightly, and Brian and I look forward to many years of watching them together. Karen the Cougar says that Love means never having to say you’re sorry, but Brian begs to differ; he says Love means you usually have to say you’re sorry for one thing or another. He goes on to tell us that successful relationships depend on two things: finding the right person and being the right person. Hmmm, I think I hear Glenn Miller’s "Moonlight Serenade." It kind of puts you "In the Mood." Leaving you for now with dart-strewn chocolates, lace and hearts in a snowy, arctic Espyville. Keep that ice off your bumper and your tail. Thanks for reading the Espyville Buzz and keep on buying the Community News. And those immortal sounds of the Glenn Miller Band? They’re sponsored by Chesterfield’s. |
