BUILDING SNOWMEN - A group of Head Start children are shown building snowmen during outdoor recess as they take advantage of the snow that is piling up this year. On New Year's Day nearly all snow was gone due to rain that fell but the snow has been adding up since. February 2, Groundhog's Day, is halfway to spring.

This was a fun week of counting and measuring. We found out that everyone has different sizes of hands and feet. And you can use many things to measure with. Rulers, tapemeasure, q-tips, paper clips are a few of the things. The children enjoyed measuring so much that we decided to do it more often. They all cheered.

We finally got to go outside with Mrs Varee's 3rd grade children. We built snowmen [see photo above], snowangels, forts and just had a lot of fun. The snowballs that we used to make the snowmen were so big that the teachers had to help to lift them. At times we thought we were going to lose a little one under the snowballs.
